Origami, a church campaign

Region 2A regional coordinator and team members busy folding origami

When first received call from Lincoln, regional coordinator, region 2A of FGA Home Fellowship about developing a campaign for 2011 HF Leadership Retreat, I was telling Retna, “Since it is compulsory, why need a campaign.  Kind of wasting time to communicate this.”

Well, actually a campaign is still required to make sure the retreat is successful – in terms of leaders that willing to come and attend.

I would not share the details of the campaign as it would be announced on January 5, 2011.  But I could share with you what God spoke to me when developing this campaign.  The main message was what God wants to talk to leaders that have no intention to come.  Most of the time, we thought of how to attract people to join, this time round, it is to address to those that have no intention to join.

One of the teaser was the origami that the leaders were busy folding in the last meeting.  We had such great fun while folding origami.  Retna came out with the first draft of idea, followed by a series of questions to the main speaker thereafter, that helped in developing this campaign.

It is tough as well to help the church leadership to understand the meaning of the campaign, as not many could accept doing things differently.  Many preferred just the old ways, which often do not create much excitement.

I posted some tweets about challenges in communicating this campaign to the senior leadership, I believe it was because the leaders are having the reservation about this new campaign.  I traced it back to previous retreat, no campaign was ever developed.  It has been compulsory, one got to attend.

The last retreat we attended in Genting Highland, was a classroom study, which many have provided not so good feedback.  We left after being there for close to a day.  As the next day was Baby Inez dedication.

Well, everything would have a difficult start, but, we just have to commit it to God.  For we are doing all for His glory, not ours.  Amen.
