You probably may ask me now, how is Marriot Vacation Club @ Mai Khao Beach Phuket?
Marriot representative informed me that the brand name represents nothing but 5 stars quality. I wanted to believe.
However, I remember once traveled with a well known regional CEO of a leading software company in the world to Brunei, when I asked the client during the dinner, “How was the hotel so far?”
“Samuel, if I would to believe to the brand name and how it should live up to its brand name, I think the hotel brand fails miserably,” she said.
“I could not find a cotton bud in my VIP suite without calling the housekeeping. I think this hotel fails.” she concluded. I ended my conversation about the small talk and jumped into what business was for that trip.
That pretty much sums up my experience staying at Mai Khao Phuket.
Do no need to ask whether cotton bud is available, there is no shaver cream available too without asking the house keeping.
Once we stayed in Traders Hotel in Georgetown to attend my cousin’s wedding with our kids, the hotel offered us a connecting room for our kids, and I took them. Guess what, we found all we needed without asking for anything.
Then I remember staying at Marriot Nagoya, ok. Japanese is different. The hotel provided everything I ever needed, even I do not need a pyjamas.
Well, this is Japan. Almost most hotels also provide that.
One thing I like this place is the kitchen.
Not that we are going to cook while having holiday, but Retna and I can get Elijah and Ariel to wash the glasses, cups, plates that we have used. At home, they will hand these tasks to auntie Jen.
Because of international tourist spots. The swimming pool is large.
And water is salty, which Ariel said could be a nice touch to compensate the hotel lacking of beach – “giving the guests a feel of beach,” as he puts it.
The hotel is packed with kids, as this a family holiday destination.
If you love to sit at the pool side to read and chill, you may need a headphone or earphone, kids being kids, could be noisy.
Marriot has its team organsing activities for kids from 4-12, teens 13-17 and then adults every day. We are going for the yoga later.
For kids activities, the hotel has list of activities, some are complimentary, some are chargeable, at minimal fee.
I think Westin Siraj Bay may have done better in this department. Our sons had so much fun while we stayed there during our last visit. The Westin Kids Club really spoils the kids in the hotel with activities, drinks, food as part of the deal.
So Inez was not given any drink, not to mention food while she was there for 1.5 hours.
The staff at the hotel is ever helpful.
Well, this is Thailand. Service is something the country is striving for. Come on Malaysia tourism industry players, this is what you really need to learn from.
Final words, if you love holiday with family, young or older kids, you may like Marriot Vacation Club at Mai Khao Beach.
If most of you love to shop, sightseeing, try some where else 🙂
