Whenever I see a bread seller passing by with the Benggali’s bread, I would stop them and order at least 2 slices just to have a taste of it. I do this pretty often whenever I am in Penang or especially in Georgetown.
There is something about the way how Maliia Bakery at Jalan Hutton has made their bread which others may not have master it well.
I remember speaking to a group of bread distributors in Kuala Lumpur, asking them about where I can get the same Penang Benggali bread, they mentioned Federal Bakery, which I remember visited them once many years ago, I almost decided to give up eating bread after going there.
I guess certain things will remain real and true in Penang, which no where else can replicate the same taste.
Just like asam laksa, kuey trow t’hng, which only taste good in Penang, when someone else replicated it in Kuala Lumpur or any where else, the taste is different.
Maybe the food industry could study how the McD and KFC works, so we could have the same type of Penang food in perhaps Puchong at all time 🙂
