Enter The Goat Year in MobileFest Style

The wearables at the recent MobileFest meet
The wearables at the recent MobileFest meet

The Year of the Goat MobileFest meet just took place yesterday.

We have mainly the wearables in this meet, same as the last meet and the previous one.  This is the trend, how technology evolve.  Perhaps in the next one or two meets, we would be talking about technology implanting 🙂

Kevin brought his latest gadgets – Dell Venue 3000 and Neptune Pine.  Dell Venue is running on Windows 8.1, screen size is 8″, the design is kind of identical to an iPad Mini.  Really nicely design, well layout.  It has an optional stylus and bluetooth keyboard, which has the magnetic to keep it in place with the tablet.  Really handy for those without much eye sight problem LOL.  However, I am sure you can customise the screen fonts etc to make it more readable.

Neptune Pine, is scarily huge.  According to the site, it comes in 2G/3G connectivity, bluetooth and WiFi.  If you always wanting to be like all the weirdos of Samsung Gear etc to speak to speak on the phone through your watch, this is for you.  On top of which, it has the full fledge Android ICS powering it.  I could see WhatsApp, Telegram, blah blah blah, reading your email, having the Google Now, yep, this is absolutely cool gadget to have.  This is not really just any kind of wearable like those in the fitness category, but it is like you put a communication device on your wrist.  In a way, I guess the air stewardess would politely tell you to turn off your phone/watch before take off and landing 🙂

KY brought 2 Pebble watches to the meeting and ready to sell them.  If you are looking for Pebble Steel, like the one I have, please feel free to contact him.  He is letting them go (brand new) at a reasonable price.

I am so glad Azwar, Aimie and lovely kids made it to the meeting.  We had a great time speaking to Azwar, who is into DJ-ing, and learn so much from him about the mixing of music.  There are just so many DJs around now, with the help of technology and apps, making the music.  Also learn from him how the DJs could occasionally got stuck, how they got themselves away from the embarrassment by pressing certain buttons on the console LOL.

The trend of music and DJ have moved on so much with the technology, of which the technology incline DJs could spin the music with the USB thumb drive, smartphones, tablets, without any laptops (such as Mac) around.  For oldskool DJs, it is about the skills, which sadly technology has by-passed those long coveted skills, and could enter into the music spinning without knowing the basics.

Thanks for sharing where we could get really great DJ funk music 🙂

What a great lesson from Azwar!  We will invite you again for a session on music and technology.

A round of applause to Ian, for coming to the meeting right after his dental appointment.  It must be hard for him not to speak LOL.

Alan shared with us a great app and site on video streaming.  Due to the licensing and copyright issue,  I shall not share the details here 🙂

Good to meet all of you again guys.
