The first Bintang Antabax Bersama Servay star search rocked the house at Servay Putatan hypermarket as 15 talented Sabahan individuals and groups put their all into out-acting, out-singing, out-dancing and outshining each other to impress famed Malaysian star maker, Major (H) David Teo.
The star search finale was graced by Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture & Environment Sabah, Yang Berhormat Datuk Tuan Kamarlin Bin Ombi at Servay Putatan.
The star search campaign that ran from June 18 to August 16, 2015 was open to Sabahans only, and saw entries from many talents. The diverse range of talents featured included acting, singing, dancing and even beat boxing. It received tremendous response with hundreds of entries received via Antabax’s social media platforms. More than 40 performances made it to the shortlisting stage, and Major (H) David Teo and his team of entertainment scouts selected the 15 finalists.
The 15 finalistsAlvinson Julian, 14, Azrul Hafiz, 19, Ayzatul Shahirah, 22, Team Borneo Rumble Beast, Christabelle Yap, 16, Errol David Gakin, 26, Halisus Tinus, 20, Leon Chee, 16, Mohd Fakhruddin Ismail, 19, Nur Faezan Yahya, 28, Team Swagger Squad, Syahrul Fiqri, 18, Sumarli Loli, 29, Tan Mei Po, 22 and Yuri Faizis Mejal, 26,pulled out all the stops, in some cases creating skits, dances and songs specially for the competition.
The first prize winner received RM3,000, the second prize RM2,000, the third prize of RM1,000 and five consolations prizes of RM300 each for the next top-ranked finalists. They competed for a total of RM7,500 in cash prizes with generous Antabax product hampers for all.
The panel of judges for ‘Bintang Antabax Bersama Servay’ include chief judge, Malaysian star maker Major (H) David Teo, Ms Angeline Sim from Antabax, film director En Hashim Rejab, Ms Judy Moh from Servay Hypermarket and Sabahan singer, Mr. Peter Dicky Lee.
Major (H) David Teo, Chief Executive Officer of Metrowealth International Group, a powerhouse in the Malaysian entertainment industry, was full of praise for the Bintang Antabax Bersama Servay finalists.
“The 15 finalists have what it takes as performers – the talent, the showmanship and from what we can see there has been a fair amount of thought, planning and practice for those who excelled. However, the top three outdid the others through stage presence, confidence, audience interaction, showmanship and creativity. From there performances they appeared to be seasoned performers, not first-timers. Overall the talent on show was very impressive,” Major (H) David Teo said.
