Antabax, an antibacterial personal care range and the Ministry of Health Malaysia have jointly organized and embarked on an ambitious, awareness-raising and educational drive to accelerate handwashing behavior change on a national scale through the 1Malaysia Hand Hygiene Month campaign.

The campaign is expected to reach more than 2 million people, and is believed to be among the largest public-private hand hygiene campaigns ever undertaken in the nation with the purpose of reducing the spread of communicable diseases that are spread via hands. It will run nationwide, throughout the month of October 2010.

The Ministry of Health and Antabax, supported by Hospital Sungai Buloh and other hospitals nationwide, transport hub Semasa Sentral, food handlers’ organizations, and 33 schools nationwide will target the young, healthcare professionals, transport and tourism frontliners, those involved in food preparation and service as they are often at high risk of contracting and transmitting communicable diseases linked to hands.

The 1Malaysia-themed launch was aptly held at the Kompleks Sekolah Wawasan (Vision School) USJ 15 that harmoniously houses a national, Chinese and Tamil school namely SK Dato’ Onn Jaafar, SJKC Tun Tan Cheng Lock and SJKT Tun Sambanthan.
