Recent promotional advertisement from Brooklands Motors
Many have seen the advertisement (on your right) in NST Car Bikes and Trucks as well as Oriental Daily, and many have contacted me through my blog asking whether I have problems with the cars before they are thinking about it. You came to the right place, this blog entry is for you.
First of all, this is a great car. We love it when first seen it and test-drive the car twice in different conditions before we made the booking. It is also a great car as it serves us well for our out of town work as well as family get away – to the north and south. The car is so quiet when we are driving it (if the sons do not turn on Linkin Park or Green Day or wife did not turn on RHCP. BTW, the car stereo is superb), that our daughter could actually fall asleep when she is in the car. Even our colleagues and some times clients.
The car even has a mini chiller that allows us to keep some cool drinks, keeping some of the sweet and sour stuff when traveling inside it.
The air-cond vent is superb considering the car is made in France – keeping the passenger and driver inside chill and cool. The temperature control works so well that the second row passengers could control or configure whatever temperature of fan speed they want.
Now, comes the not so good or nice part about the car.
The pre-sales was terrible, maybe because of the salesperson. The insurance company that Brooklands Motors engaged, best you find your own insurance agent to handle it.
The after sales services could have been better. It is like having the car checked by a medical doctor. We could be at risk if we do not know what to ask or simply letting the doctor to do what he or she thinks is good. First few times not checking the service log, resulted some issues after for us – one of them the fuel consumption which the team is still rectifying.
The service team in Brooklands Motors has high turnover, one round of retrenchment last year, now some probably found greener pasture, many have left. So we have to deal with new and inexperience customer service team. Good news is, the veteran service guys handling the cars are still around.
The bluetooth connection between the mobilephone and the car actually could hang. It happened to us four times and when I checked with other owners of the same car, they encountered it at least twice. Good news is French has noticed this after I launched the complaint. They told me that I was the first to bring this to their attention.
The from RM138k as advertised, this is news to you, who are interested. There goes the moon roof, different fabric for the seat, second row passengers, you are not longer in control of the ventilation, but the driver; third row passenger, I am sorry, you are no longer having your own blower or air way, don’t wear too much thick clothes when you are sitting at the back.
I hope this blog entry clears the air. If you are really keen, check it yourself, but we don’t offer test drive.
One more thing, the cost of maintenance – servicing, it is pretty high. Think you should take note too if thinking about having Citroen in your garage.

really love this car but now with the peugot 5008, is THAT the car to buy now for mid size families?
by the way, how high is high for servicing ?
Hi Mike, thanks for reading & commenting on my blog.
I suggest you to check all cars, including 5008 & Grandis. They look pretty decent too and good buy.
Very informative post indeed. I believe a lot of ppl wanted to get this car but do not have the confidence nor enough info. I just wished brookland can do a better job in marketing citroen….pls revamp the fugly website….
For me, I do not care how Brooklands Motors markets the car or the brand. I care more about the after sales services, parts and chemistry with the technical team.
Which, at the moment, they are ok still.
I am considering by this car but then the moonroof , the ventilators, blowers everything still remains….including the leather seat for an additional cost of rm1800….do u have any heating problems….and when the auto gear changes do u feel any kind of pushing forward movement?
Hi Bala73,
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog.
I suggest you read my latest post about our Citroen in an accident, a car knocked us from the back. All passengers in the car are safe & protected.
About the air-cond, we have no problem with it at all. All passengers seldom complain about being warm while in the car.
Hi Samuel thanks for the reply….now that the car had a turbo engine and price knocked down….do u have any info on any difference in the car….i mean more specific to the interiors when compared to the 2.0 version….i tried to look for the car in showroom all sold out and they are waiting for the next lot to come probably next month…do u have any idea…about the interior of the latest version…..
BTW, I do not have any info related to that. If you search hard enough, you would find the UK forum, which would have done the comparison. One thing for sure, the fuel consumption would be perhaps lower with 1.6 turbo.
Before you get the car, if you are serious about it. You should read one of my latest posts, which I ranted about Brooklands Motors post sales service.
Yes I did read that post…..I do understand the service sucks bcs when I called to the kl branch for enquire the sales guy sucked….but the penang branch was better n the service station was better organised…..atleast the owner himself spoke to me…not yet decided looking into Peugeot too for almost same features they cost 20k more that is what makes me things ….twice
