• Walls, Hitting The Walls, Walls Coming Down, bla bla bla

The week sermon is inspiring.  Reading from the Book of Joshua, chapter 6. Walls, I visited a few places with walls as the main attractions and themes.  Occasionally, I hit walls at home and work.  Walls, they are there to prevent one to move across.  To stop something from coming in.  When I was in Kota Bharu, the Lam Soon team told me that some houses and shoplots build walls to prevent flood coming into their houses. In physical training, walls are there to train persons to overcome the challenge.  Sometimes, alone, sometimes in a team. Joshua was leading the people to conquer Jericho, he and the team have to…

  • Tips on Daily Devotion

I am not an expert of daily devotion. Doing daily devotion, reading God’s word is an important routine of Christian.  However, because many things influencing or rather taking our time away from God, we seldom able to read, and communicate with Him well. Psalm 119:105 > Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. So, I gathered some tips along the way while I was doing my daily devotion, seriously, for 2 years.  I have completed reading the whole Bible, I think if I would follow the plan well, I could do it in less than 90 days.  However, let’s not rush through it.…

  • Be Kind to Others (even though they were nasty to you)

Powerful words from 2 Samuel 2 this morning. May the Lord now show you kindness and faithfulness, and I too will show you the same favor because you have done this. ~ 2 Samuel 2:6 I got a call on Monday from a partner who constantly accused me when we won a project or client, I am not sure why, although we constantly acknowledged their good deed in recommending us to a client which they pitched, we got the job, they did not. The partner had rather thick skin to ask me for favor, while we were swimming with the kids at the swimming pool, at Kumar’s condo.  My immediate…

  • ‘As surely as I valued your life today, so may the Lord value my life’

When I was doing my daily devotion yesterday, I could not do it in the SOAP method, because none of the passage spoke to me.  I must be honest with God, can’t just a passage and so be it. Today, when I read 1 Samuel 26, David again spared Saul’s life. In 1 Samuel 26:11, the word of God says, But the Lord forbid that I should lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed. Now get the spear and water jug that are near his head, and let’s go.” David has the chance again to kill Saul, but he did not, rather to show a gesture that when he could do it,…

  • “He is my son, I can’t give up on him”

I must admit this.  My 2011 new year resolution is to read the Bible as my daily devotional material instead of newspaper.  Well, blamed it to the Oriental Daily (my mom’s favorite for now) that delivers very early in the morning, like 5am.  So our sons head to school with the transporter, our Cambodian helper would have brought the Oriental Daily into our living hall.  So, must be the attraction of knowing what was going. Enough of blaming the very nice newspaper delivery man. When reading the news about gay Chinese youth that has been termed as con that also forced the victim to perform unnatural sexual activities (i.e. sodomise…

  • Making the Right Choice in Life

Gospel of Mark is one that described Jesus as a King of Suffering. He went through the hardship for all, this includes people He already knew well – disciples, family members and people He does not know. Mark 16:16 ~ He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. It is hard to make choices in life. I am serious. This includes, “What’s for breakfast, dinner?”. Or “What colors should I choose?” Choice means one. Either take A or B, blue or yellow, roti canai or nasi lemak etc. Could we have both? Maybe. But God wants us to be focus,…

  • Reading the Book of Zechariah

This morning reading of Zechariah, it is a warning sent from God to the prophet. Although the timing for current moment would have been different, the context is the same when comes to worship the Lord. For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’ ” ~ Zechariah 2:5 However, the good news is, when He is coming, He will build a wall of fire all around the place, this means He will build a wall around us. Hallelujah? So, will you believe that God will make a visitation to you today? Father, forgive us. Forgive…
