yahyel, Tokyo
Retna and I were in Tokyo in November for alt-J. yahyel did the opening act. Honestly, we have no idea about the band, first time hearing their performance. More so, no idea on the music genre, art approaches, neither the style. I have no idea the songs they played, but the next day I had the Spotify (which I no longer use) on to listen their albums, I could sort of remember what tracks they played during the opening act. Kill Me Once Joseph The Flare Rude Iron Probably need yahyel team to confirm whether I got the above right. Yahyel, an Indie pop band from Tokyo, established since 2015.…

alt-J, Tokyo
During one of the work lunches, client asked me what concert I would like to watch in 2017, I said alt-J, that was in January 2017. We waited for a while until alt-J announced the Asia tour, and we checked which locations we would like to attend, picked Japan, as we could bring the kids along for their first Japan experience, while we watch the concert. The challenge to buy tickets for concerts in Japan is always a challenge – language as generally no English in the ticketing website. So after some trial, bought the tickets from a ticket agents with some handling fee. The tickets were mailed to me…

If You Need To, Keep Time On Me. Fleet Foxes in Sydney
We have been listening to Fleet Foxes since 2008, by chance. I was listening to Indie folk recommended by one of the online magazine. We fell in love with White Winter Hymnal the first time we listened to it. I still remember, I was playing it on my Mac, and after a while, my colleagues told me, I have played the same song like 20x. Ragged Wood is another song we listened to it so often, that we could sing the song the whole day. Elijah could also sing Motezuma when he was 5, and he loved to sing it whenever he played with Ariel. I guess the song really…

Music @ the Park
Just before the Australia trip, Bernie wrote to me that there will be a concert at the park. When I first read the email, I was thinking, classical concert at the park? Hmm, interesting. We wanna be there. Sure!

Numb, Nay. Seriously.
The concert was first reported in June, and Retna informed me about it. I was kind of excited as the last LP Live in Malaysia, about 10 years ago, I did not go, mainly did not want to pay the super expensive ticket price. Anyway, since I have proven to my family that I am really a LP fan (although I can not sing all their songs), I gave it a go. I got the VIP ticket, hoping with the LP Underground membership, I could join the meet & greet session (well, obviously I did not), I left my pass at home. Ok, to be precise I actually do not…

Her First, Pink is for Flower Concert
I often wonder why would kids need so much make up. After today’s performance by Inez for her school concert, I still do not think kids should be putting on with make up, more so, with a lot of it. Children, unlike adults, are still with very pretty skin texture and colours. The make up would make them look weird. IMHO. After Retna putting o make up for Inez, later we noticed her face has extra layer of powder as well as rather red lipstick.
