• Welcome to Puchong, 2.0

I started Welcome To Puchong Facebook page a few years ago, when I was doing it with a few others.  It did not last.  Mainly, I was generating and developing the content, as well as promoting the page, alone. Just kind of like another tech enthusiast group I started with others, after a while, it was me running it alone, with the help of Retna, as well as our twins. As you are probably figuring things out now, I prefer a family run kind of startup.  Maybe it is about commitment from others, which I think could have taken a toll on some. So I went quiet for a while,…

  • Against the Wind, 1,298.73km

Bought the Garmin EDGE 800 to track my riding behaviour, heart rate on my health level as well as to know how much calories I consumed when I have gone on riding on a bicycle. I was using CatEye to track my speed, however, it has limitation.  Was then considering SIGMA, however, the set I wanted to buy, Adrian bought it first.  So, I went hunting again.  Finally bought the Garmin EDGE 800 from Tukang Basikal Fook Sang, Sungai Besi. I am not a fanatic cyclists unlike many of my other cycling friends.  I started cycling when aboutcom was awarded a PR project with Malakoff, which few of the activities…

  • When Social Media Becomes Non-Responsive, Also by Operating Hours

I remember DiGi was one of the telco that was (remember that I am using past tense) actively involved in social media – Twitter and Facebook in communicating with its customers.  I have had good communication with DiGi team in the past (again) but not until recently. The MiFi that aboutcom subscribed for the team when away from office, especially for many media events outside of Klang Valley has received terrible response from the team.  The service has been terminated. I was glad that DiGi opened an outlet at Sunway Pyramid as it is closer to us.  However, the waiting period to be served is horrible.  On par with TM…

  • Keeping Up with Technology (So Long Beamfest, Welcome Mobilefest)

Beamfest, originated by someone from MyPDACafe since its inception, (I think) about 6 or 7 years ago.  However, over time, the site is not active anymore, with dropping of visitation to the forum and site, MyPDACafe is probably still popular in Penang, but not in Klang Valley anymore. However, it used to be a platform for all to communicate, get to know new products, technology as well as networking among the members.  Today, despite sharing the knowledge, also the venue for catching up with old friends. Although the Beamfest has loose its attractiveness, among few of us stil try to make it a point to meet perhaps once every month…

  • Social Networking Camera, Ready to Try?

Kodak is one brand of our family choice when coming to buying of camera film.  Our family members also insisted on the Kodak paper print after picture being taken. With all things on digital, the new Kodak M530 is designed to make sharing pictures and videos to social networking sites such as Facebook, popular online digital picture and video sharing sites like YouTube and Flickr as well as KODAK Gallery, or to an e-mail address, to be as simple as pressing one button on the Kodak M530 camera.

  • Be an encourager, says Pastor Guy Rozario

Have not been listening to Pastor Guy Rozario, the head of worship and musical department of Full Gospel Assembly KL.  He did not preach anything related to music nor his experience in music 🙂 but on being an encourager and motivator to others. What caught the attention of the congregation was the simple message taken from Acts 15:36-41 where the disagreement between Paul and Barnabas, and Jesus heals the man with leprosy in Mark 1:40-45. “Quite often I feel not encouraged and motivated in FGA.  So we need to change,” Pastor Guy said. Peter Drucker said, “To keep bureaucracy from productive people,” and Pastor Guy used that to describe current…

  • Total Surrender (after reading Reinhard Bonke’s walking on water)

Reading Reihard Bonke’s posting on Facebook few minutes ago:- When Peter walked on the water it was Peter, not Jesus that figured prominently in this miracle. Peter walked to Jesus – not Jesus to Peter. But with it Peter showed what Jesus can do! If we do no more than what we can, it doesn’t demonstrate Jesus. But doing what He enables us to do, excel, rise above the limits of ourselves, guides people’s eyes to Jesus. Can you see the point? Please let me know. REINHARD BONNKE When Peter walked on water with Jesus, it was the time when he totally surrendered himself to Jesus, believing that he could…

  • I have 2 Datelines to Accomplish Tasks – Home + Work (thks Azmi for bringing this thought)

After reading Azmi’s Facebook entry that said, “….. must have deadline for project, otherwise miscellaneous tasks will expand to fill up time!!!” It makes me realised we can’t possibly function well without deadlines or datelines.  Our children required dateline to complete their school work and home work.  Retna and I need dateline to complete our respective tasks at home – shopping of grocery, keeping the house clean, bathing the dog, walking the dog, exercise etc. We also have datelines at work – completing work and follow ups with clients, discussions, meetings that have to take place, media activities and proposals etc.  To be discipline or being trained to be able…
