• Pudu Breakfast.

When I was 10, our neighbours brought back 2 packs of Hakka Noodle from Pudu. She told me roughly when the stall is that time, I could vaguely remember the location. So after many years, I could still remember the taste of that Hakka Noodle, with the fried pork oil, minced pork, char Siew (caramelise grilled pork) as well as pork dumplings. The soup, must be one that boiled over many hours, imagine a good ramen soup, if it is bad, the ramen is bad also. This noodle stall has been around since 60s, according to the auntie once I spoken to. The owner makes the noodle, and everything else.…

  • Walking with Leica at night in Bandar Puchong Jaya.

Our dear daughter has the ballet class at night, for an hour of waiting, instead of like most of the parents would do – waiting at the cafe or the ballet school with their phones, I chose to walk about, to digest the dinner I just had with Inez.  Better still, I brought the Leica along, as well as Fleet Foxes, streamed wirelessly on the bluetooth earphones. I talked to the helper at the food trucks before taking these pictures, as I think street photography should be given utmost care in terms of people privacy.  No one should be photographed without knowing that they are. I walked to the food…

  • Increase Your Fibre and Protein Intake.

How is your digestion and intestinal health? Fibre plays an important role in promoting better intestinal health and aiding digestion[1]. Are you getting enough fibre in your diet? According to the Recommended Nutrient Intakes for Malaysia 2017 report by the Ministry of Health Malaysia, Malaysian adults should get 20-30g[2] of fibre, daily. However, local data reveals that the average urban Malaysian’s daily diet only contains about 13-16g of total dietary fibre[3]. While fruits and vegetables are among the most common source of dietary fibre, legumes such as beans are a very good source of dietary fibre[4]. Canned baked beans are ready to eat straight from the can, making them a…

  • Birthday.

I first discovered Sky Dining at Troika when I was looking for places to have meals with Retna, on special occasions, such as birthday, anniversary.  Just like everything and everyone else would have done – I Google-d for suggestions. The place is by 2 dudes with experience in restaurant opening, selling them, then open new ones. Cantaloupe is located on the 23A floor of Troika, one needs the access card to reach the floor, from the security team. The view is great if not blocked by advertisement billboards. The lunch menu is determined once a month, focusing on French cuisine and presentation.  If you fancy great food accompanied with great…

  • Why I stay away from having Italian food in Malaysian’s restaurant

As a restaurant started by 2 well known and respectable personnel in the industry, I believe entrepreneurs could do well when they differentiate in terms of food quality, ambient of the venues as well as great services. Customer willingly to pay top dollar and get through the tedious reservation process, so to taste the great food and services. Speaking for STRATO, our experience speaks other wise. While I read some bad reviews on TripAdvisor about the other restaurants at Troika Sky Dining, I have been to Cantalopue twice, both have been great, while I feel the carpet or flooring could have been furnished with something newer during my visits. Perhaps…

  • Visiting a night market

I love night photography.  I am still new at this topic. So I went for one session at the Taman OUG night market on Thursday to take some pictures. I also invited twins to join me as they love street food. I did not take much pictures in this walk. It is not that great place to do so, maybe I need to come another day.  The roads are not closed for the night market, so it is kind of dangerous to walk and take pictures. I ended up buying some food for dinner. Well, food sucks.

  • Hong Kong from Bukit Mertajam, Cheras Boy and Puchong Guy Perspective

Been traveling for holiday as well as for work. I will write something about Hong Kong, which I was there with Retna, to celebrate her birthday. My last trip to Hong Kong was in 2007, when I was there for a golf meeting, and I do not play golf. Earlier this year when Retna and I were enrolee to Taipei for Bon Iver, we stopped for a short while to check out Disneyland outlet, I was tempted to get BB8 for Inez. This time round, we took some days off to experience Hong Kong, like we have never before.  In actual fact we could not experience Hong Kong fully, simply,…

  • Tan-Vijayans @ Ganga Cafe

I love Indian food.  Nothing to do with marrying a Sri Lankan. The very first time when I had Indian food was in Georgetown.  My late uncle fetched me from the airport and took me for lunch at a banana leaf restaurant, which was a new experience for me.  I grew up in Kuala Lumpur since I was 4.  I have never been living outside of the place.  So kind of like a city boy, now man. He told me, you will like the banana leaf meal, once I have tried it.  True enough, I fell in love with the Indian food, more so the rice and curry served with…
