• Amps Air

Have been admiring the wireless earpods, but did not find I like.  Tried the Apple EarPods when I was in Tokyo, find it kind of weird, to have earphones cord being cut off. While I was at Bic Camera in Osaka, a night before heading home to KL, I bought Sol Republic Amps Air. I first tried Sol Republic in 2012, when I was in Singapore for a work trip.  Before boarding I walked into tax free electronic shop to get a pair earphones for me to enjoy some music while coming back to KL.  I picked it. Sol Republic and I did not end up well.  The microphone constantly…

  • yahyel, Tokyo

Retna and I were in Tokyo in November for alt-J. yahyel did the opening act.  Honestly, we have no idea about the band, first time hearing their performance.  More so, no idea on the music genre, art approaches, neither the style. I have no idea the songs they played, but the next day I had the Spotify (which I no longer use) on to listen their albums, I could sort of remember what tracks they played during the opening act. Kill Me Once Joseph The Flare Rude Iron Probably need yahyel team to confirm whether I got the above right. Yahyel, an Indie pop band from Tokyo, established since 2015.…

  • alt-J, Tokyo

During one of the work lunches, client asked me what concert I would like to watch in 2017, I said alt-J, that was in January 2017.  We waited for a while until alt-J announced the Asia tour, and we checked which locations we would like to attend, picked Japan, as we could bring the kids along for their first Japan experience, while we watch the concert. The challenge to buy tickets for concerts in Japan is always a challenge – language as generally no English in the ticketing website.  So after some trial, bought the tickets from a ticket agents with some handling fee.  The tickets were mailed to me…

  • 東京へようこそ

The last time Retna and I were in Tokyo was in 2013, when we came to experience Japan for the first time.  I came to Nagoya and Kyoto in 2014 for work. While I really love Japan, I could not find enough reason to come back.  However, since Taipei, Hong Kong were not on the interest of the children, and we took them to Rome, and told them so much about Japan experience, they asked us, let’s do Japan. We arrived at Tokyo after a few movies that I watched and had really good laugh during the flight, until the twins told me, I have to lower my laugh. November…

  • Please be honest with us

Pretty fast, we almost coming to an end of our tour in Japan, booked with Apple Vacations & Conventions Sdn Bhd or better known as Apple Holiday.  Wait, there is also another name – Sakura Holiday.  Seriously, I am pretty confused who are dealing with.  The payment was made to Apple Vacations & Conventions Sdn Bhd, but the tour coordinated by Sakura Holiday, which is also known as Kanan Holiday.  The companies seems to share a common address, so I presumed these companies belong to the same owner, but the operations are being sub-contracted to its subsidiaries. We first checked if the tour guide would speak basic English when explaining…

  • Everything Fine, Except the Apples

This is our 5th day in Japan.  We have been to Osaka, Kyoto, Hammatsu, Mount Fuji, Shinjuku, Tokyo etc.  I think it would have kind of difficult to travel to all these places without a tour arrangement, more so since we do not speak Japanese.  We came under a tour company called Apple Vacations & Conventions, which it blasted a lot of advertisements in the Chinese dailies as well as travel magazines. The tour manager is a Malaysian, who studied in Japan while he was a student.  So he speaks good Japanese.  Because he converse well in the language, so English might not be his best language, but tried all…

  • Your Bun to Japan

Do you like buns?  I do, very much. Maybe because I am from the north Peninsular, my mom used to consume a lot of “Bangali Roti”, I suppose that is why the bread or bun tradition still pretty much runs in the family. Well, good news if you like buns.  You will now stand a chance to fly to Tokyo, Japan. We bought the buns and Elijah posed for a photo, and we have sent it. Even if you do not stand a chance to go to Japan, you still stand a chance to win the Sony camera. Have fun!
