Mobile Operator, XOX Berhad (XOX), today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), as its official mobile technology sponsor.

In its role as sponsor, XOX will support BAM in development of the sport in Malaysia.

In return the XOX logo will be featured on the national badminton team’s kit and in A-boards in selected tournaments, while national badminton team players may be featured in the mobile operator’s promotional and publicity activities and materials.

According to the Group Managing Director, XOX Berhad, Datuk Eddie Chai the sponsorship is the first sports development initiative by the XOX brand and is aimed at nurturing talent for continued success in local and international competition.

“Badminton is a sport that unites Malaysians. Our national team is highly ranked globally and the nation takes pride in their achievement. As an up-and-coming mobile technology brand we see distinct synergies in partnering with BAM to nurture the continued success of the national team through this sponsorship,” Datuk Chai said.

“For the XOX brand this sponsorship will introduce us to the large pool of Malaysians who follow the national badminton team, and to a global audience of badminton fans who will associate XOX with the talent, skill and determination of our shuttlers. It is an excellent endorsement for us that our world-class national team and coaches are all using XOX as their mobile service provider, while we support them in sustaining their high achievement in the global arena,” Datuk Chai explained.

“There are many opportunities for XOX to work closely with BAM and support them for upcoming events with our innovative mobile technology that can further the reach for badminton in Malaysia and globally,” Datuk Chai added.

BAM’s President Yang Mulia Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff said, “We are glad to welcome XOX on board as one of our sponsors. Badminton is evolving not just in how it is played but also in how it is viewed and shared, with mobile technology and social media taking on more prominence and reaching an ever increasing audience. We are excited to work with XOX to create a stronger mobile and online presence for BAM, our players and the sport as a whole.”

Established in 2005, XOX has been listed on the Malaysian stock market since the middle of 2011.  The company builds on its existing platform with differentiated services and content, while adopting a holistic approach with value added services for its subscribers.

XOX Berhad also recently co-sponsored the Maybank Malaysian Open Super Series Premier 2014 through one of its brands, the XOX-Voopee.
