Fast Response, May Not Be Enough

“Failed to load something message” is kind of normal on Meta Watch.

I have been using the Meta Watch for over 2 weeks now.

The summary, while the idea of having a smartphone companion such as this, what it fails would be the connectivity and actual usage, the practicality of having Meta Watch at work, and at play.  I tested it for a family holiday as well as while at work, I think I still prefer my conventional watch, i.e. my favourite mechanical Swiss movement watch.  Why?

Connectivity is a major issue for Meta Watch and iOS, and probably Android too.  While I was in the swimming pool with the kids, I can feel constant vibration of the Meta Watch about connected, disconnected with the phone.  FYI, I was only like 6 – 10 feet away from the phone.  The resort we were in comes with an in-room pool.

Failed to Download Weather, and whatever“.  When I asked the support team of Meta Watch (which they replied really quick), they told me there could be a telco locked or blocked API access to Yahoo weather.  How do they explained it works sometimes?

Stock quotes, while it is a great idea to know the stock movement.  But, Malaysian stock movement especially ^KLSE is constantly not available.  When I asked the support team, again, I was told our ISP blocks the API access to Yahoo Stocks.  Come one, I can access Yahoo Stock without any problem.

Battery life sucks.  Meta Watch advertised that it can last for 7 days.  I got 3, sometimes 4 days.  While on holiday, I needed to bring the charger along.

The display, major drawback.  While I am indoor, I have to turn my wrist a couple of times before I could tell the time.  Not to mention to check the incoming calls, text messages etc.  Annoying.

Incoming calls?  It appears after the calls dropped.  Yep, it was that fast, opps slow.

Reading of text messages.  Truncated version.  Almost like not reading anything, still need to take out the phone to read the messages.

Sport watch?  Nay.  You will be as disappointed as I am when you find out that the watch is not capable of tracking the speed, heart rate, cadence etc.  I asked the support team, was told it is not coming from Meta Watch, wait for 3rd party developers to make this possible.  When?  God knows.
