So long farewell, #FitBit
Just as my Instagram update (above) said, I am not a FitBit evangelist in Malaysia, neither any where else in the world.
I bought all the FitBit devices – from Flex, to then Force (which was recalled), to the Charge and Charge HR.
I first got to know FitBit through TechCrunch and also the Las Vegas CES some years back.
It was something to motivate me to do better in exercise, which I love a way to track my progress. There were days I believe I could live healthily and perhaps to loose weight.
Well, after several years of using the FitBit, I concluded:-
I can stay fit and healthy, without FitBit.
Why?
I am constantly aware of the need to exercise. I run on the treadmill daily, except Sunday, as I spend Sundays on swimming as well as family time.
When I was in Australia, Taiwan recently, I could see so many people exercising, walking, more than in Malaysia.
Yep, I know the weather here.
So, from this moment, I am going to leave FitBit for good.
Why?
I am done with such a sub-standard product and non existence customer support.
Since the company has gone IPO and becoming big (so they think), the product quality and after sales support have gone down the drain.
None of my FitBit device actually lasted more than 1 year, with the most recent Charge HR I bought from Melbourne last year, went bad just a month after it was out of warranty.
So, there you have it.
If all the FitBit devices I owned, none of them could last longer than 12 months, the products suck.
Talking about the wearable devices that I own at the moment, Pebble, MetaWatch, Apple Watch, all of them still in working conditions.
Just to calculate how much I have spent on FitBit:-
- 2 Flex = USD198
- 1 Force = USD149
- 1 Charge = USD149
- 2 Charge HR = USD358
Total = USD854 (RM3,459)
That, how much I have invested on a piece of device which all ended up being garbage.
Painful as it is, I am putting an end to this.
I am deleting my FitBit account, saying farewell to all my competitive friends on FitBit community whom we pushed each other to achieve the daily steps, weekly challenge etc. Thank you guys.
The products suck so is the after sales service.
Cheerio.
